April 22 2026 Good News for Humankind πYour daily spark of possibility β one real milestone for change from around the world. Alaska judge permanently shields Tongass old-growth forests from loggingThe Tongass National Forest just won a major day in court, with a federal judge ruling in March 2026 that the U.S. Forest Service is not legally required to ramp up logging to meet timber industry demand. The decision protects the world's largest temperate old-growth rainforest β home to roughly a third of what remains of this ecosystem globally, along with wild salmon runs, brown bears, and trees older than 800 years. Tribal nations, fishing crews, and tourism operators stood alongside federal defenders in the case, a reminder that the forest's value reaches far beyond timber. Wins like this give communities a stronger foundation to defend the ancient places that, once lost, simply cannot be rebuilt.
Antihero Project π¦ΉYou've read the good news. Now, start making your own. Networks of supportWestern society insists on Progress. And it insists we pursue it narrowly through three of its favorite tools: reason, technology, and economic growth. Our global systems and solutions are obsessed with data, research, analysis, efficiency, optimization, and cold-hearted calculus. This focus has led to many important breakthroughs in technology, medicine, and beyond. There's no doubt. But it has also fostered rampant heartlessness, greed, and apathy β the roots of so many of the problems facing the world today. At its core, so much of the polycrisis is not a failure of the head but of the heart. We have many of the needed solutions. We just arenβt willing to pay the price: our wealth, our status, our greatness, our centrality in the story of our lives. Because of that, perhaps the most strategic, elegant, all-encompassing contribution to the world any of us can offer is simply showing up in our actual lives with more vulnerability, kindness, compassion, and courage. Itβs making authentic human connections the very foundation of our lives and careers. Itβs showing up to life with more heart. When we open our hearts, we tap into the grace and compassion we need to freely offer whatever we can in service to the greater good. We create the relational pathways that allow energy to flow freely between us. And we inspire and enable others to do the same. When enough of us do this, we create vast networks through which we can distribute not just care, love, and attention, but knowledge, wisdom, and resources to where they are needed most. Donβt overthink it. To get straight to the heart of the polycrisis, you can just go straight to your own heart. Go straight to making real connections from your heart to another. Those connections are the very lifeblood of the ecosystem of change. They are the only thing that has ever created true goodness in our world. They are, always have been, and always will be more than enough. βUnsubscribe | Preferences | Switch to weekly digest | Find me on Instagramβ Peter Schulte Coaching LLC |
