July 22, 2026 Good News for Humankind 🌏Your daily spark of possibility — one real milestone for change from around the world. Wild bison return to Romania’s Southern Carpathians after 250 yearsEuropean bison vanished from Romanian forests roughly 250 years ago, hunted and squeezed out until only captive breeding kept the species alive — so a self-sustaining wild herd, nearly half born free in the Țarcu Mountains, represents something conservationists once considered impossible. A new Bison Ambassadors program pairs an actress, a regenerative farmer, and a biologist with the rewilding landscape to carry that story to audiences institutional conservation rarely reaches. Tensions with farmers and uncertain funding mean the future is not guaranteed. Still, this recovery shows what patient, community-rooted rewilding can achieve — and how one landscape's healing can inspire others across Europe. Antihero Project 🦹You've read the good news. Now, start making your own. Chapter 2-5: Peace | Peace as an ally of actionWhen we imagine the most peaceful people, we perhaps imagine someone sitting quietly on a meditation cushion or living in a remote cabin in the woods without the responsibility of kids or a career. We expect peace to manifest in our external surroundings. We don’t believe true peace can exist with an important deadline rapidly approaching. We don’t believe true peace can exist with a five-year-old in the backseat demanding to hear a song for the eighteenth time. We don't believe true peace can exist while fully acknowledging and confronting the polycrisis. The purpose-driven often carry the belief that cultivating and choosing peace means that they will become passive or ineffective. They worry that their peace will somehow betray their care and devotion for the world. Deep down, they believe that their constant state of agitation and stress is the price they pay for being someone who truly shows up for others and the world. Yes, people can cultivate peace and then turn away from the needs and challenges of the world. They can go within and stay there forever. But most of us do not have this option. And most of us would not choose it even if we could. Instead, peace becomes an ally to right action in the world. It becomes the precondition that makes truly effective, sustained action possible. It’s what allows us to breathe in the immensity of the polycrisis and not be swept away by it. For antiheroes, peace is not a retreat from the world. Burnout is. It is our minds and bodies revolting, doing whatever they can to escape a reality we cannot sustain. Peace is the resource that allows us to show up in the world and stay in it, without being consumed by it, without being beaten down by it, without sacrificing our joy and sense of self.
