March 3 2026 Good News for Humankind 🌏The world's latest positive milestones for climate, justice, peace, health, and more India set to launch free nationwide HPV vaccination for adolescent girlsThe Indian government is rolling out a monumental public health initiative to provide free human papillomavirus vaccines to adolescent girls across the country. Targeting girls between the ages of nine and fourteen, the campaign aims to drastically reduce the incidence of cervical cancer. This massive undertaking is made possible by the introduction of Cervavac, an affordable, domestically produced vaccine developed by the Serum Institute of India. By integrating the vaccine into existing national immunization programs and utilizing schools as distribution hubs, India is taking a proactive step toward eliminating cervical cancer and securing a healthier future.
Antihero Project 🕊️Fantastical simplicity vs. real complexityIn the fantasy world of heroes, there are immense, existential threats with simple solutions. Sauron, for example, threatens to cast the entire world into darkness. And, he can be defeated and peace can be restored, simply by throwing a ring into a volcano. But in this real world of ours, we have no such luck. The world today is deeply, almost impossibly, complex and ambiguous. Real change does not occur through one action. We often cannot predict the outcomes of our actions. We usually must choose between several shades of gray. Take the historic assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader Khameini this weekend. We so desperately want the situation to be simple, but it simply is not. As I listen to reactions on social media, it seems everyone has a definitive take on the "right" moral stance—one that can be neatly articulated in a 30-second reel.
But you can actually believe many disparate things at once and still be coherent. You can pray for liberation and peace for the Iranian people and hope this action takes them a step closer. And you can condemn the assassination as illegal, recognizing that the justifications for it were dubious at best. You can see the possibility that this leads to real liberation for millions of Iranians. And you can see the possibility that this leads to more senseless slaughter. You can condemn the action and hope it leads to peace. You can celebrate the action and not trust those who enacted it. More than that, you can care deeply about a situation and feel many different ways about it all at once. You can care deeply about it and have no f*cking clue about the next right thing. The hero lives in a world where the solution is knowable. The antihero lives in a world where the wisest and most courageous stance is often "I don't know."
