Chile surpasses 50% ocean protection with the world’s third-largest fully protected marine zone

Chilean President Gabriel Boric has signed a decree extending full Chilean ocean protection to roughly 140,000 square miles around the Juan Fernández and Nazca-Desventuradas marine parks, pushing national coverage past 50% of its exclusive economic zone.

Once implemented, the fully protected zone will rank as the third largest in the world, behind the Ross Sea and Papahānaumokuākea. The Organización Comunitaria Funcional Mar de Juan Fernández — a community of fewer than 1,000 people managing a sustainable lobster fishery since 1890 — drove the proposal forward.

Their success demonstrates that durable ocean conservation starts with the people who live there.

Los Angeles jury finds tech giants liable in landmark social media safety trial

In a historic verdict for digital accountability, a Los Angeles Superior Court jury has found Meta and YouTube liable for designing addictive features that harm children.

The first-of-its-kind ruling awarded $6 million in damages to a 20-year-old plaintiff, focusing on social media safety and the negligent engineering of "infinite scrolls" and autoplay. While tech companies are expected to appeal, the decision builds on research from the Center for Humane Technology and marks the first time a jury has held platforms responsible for their design choices.

This victory provides a major blueprint for protecting the mental health of the next generation.

Wales becomes first part of U.K. to mandate solar panels on new buildings

The Welsh Government has officially updated its national building regulations to require the installation of solar panels on new buildings across the country.

This historic move makes Wales the first nation in the United Kingdom to mandate that all new homes and non-domestic structures generate their own clean electricity. While housing experts maintain a measured outlook on the initial construction costs, the policy is designed to dramatically lower energy bills for families and secure national energy independence.

This achievement provides a practical blueprint for how modern urban planning can successfully drive the global transition toward a net-zero future.

Bhumika Shrestha becomes Nepal’s first out trans lawmaker

A historic milestone for representation has been reached as Bhumika Shrestha becomes the first out transgender lawmaker in the federal parliament of Nepal.

A long-time leader with the Blue Diamond Society, Shrestha was appointed through the nation's Proportional Representation system to ensure marginalized voices have a seat in the legislature. While activists maintain a measured outlook on the work remaining for marriage equality and rural acceptance, this appointment builds on a 20-year history of legal progress.

This achievement provides a powerful regional blueprint for how developing nations can successfully integrate diverse identities into modern, democratic governance.

Monarch butterfly population sees dramatic increase in Mexico wintering grounds

A new survey from the National Alliance for the Conservation of the Monarch Butterfly reveals that the monarch butterfly population in Mexico’s wintering grounds has increased by 176 percent.

Data shows the butterflies occupied 2.49 hectares of forest this year, up from 0.9 hectares in the previous season. While researchers maintain a measured outlook because the population remains below historical levels, the growth signals a major victory for habitat protection efforts across North America.

This recovery proves that coordinated conservation between three nations can protect the most vulnerable migratory species and ensure a vibrant future.

Humans invent dancing (~35,000 B.C.E. ???)

Cave paintings in India and Europe dating back roughly 35,000 years include some of the earliest known depictions of humans moving together in rhythm. Researchers believe dance is almost certainly older than any painting — a social tool that helped our ancestors build trust, form communities, and survive long before the first civilizations appeared.

For the first time ever, a majority of U.S. homes are heated by climate-friendly heat pumps (2040 C.E. ???)

After decades of fossil fuel dominance in household heating systems, climate-friendly heat pumps become the most common option across the world's biggest economy. The 2020s and 30s see exponential growth in heat pump sales due to increased public urgency on climate, growing consumer awareness about heat pumps, aggressive government rebates, and improved technology that allows heat pumps to withstand even bitterly cold winters.

Rush lifesaving food to the Middle East

From UN World Food Programme: The escalation of conflict across the Middle East is endangering millions of civilians. The World Food Programme is calling for urgent dialogue, deescalation, and respect for human rights – especially food. We are operational, positioned, and ready to scale up in the region, including in Iran, Lebanon and Gaza.

But our budget is stretched beyond its limit, and we urgently need your support to deliver enough meals to displaced families.

We are already providing hot meals, ready-to-eat rations, and bread packs to thousands of families in Lebanon. You can help us reach thousands more.

Antihero Project 🌱

You've read the good news. Now, start making your own.

The world still needs you

This isn't a program about doing more. You already do enough.

This isn't a program about running away to find your bliss. The world still needs you.

Antihero Project is a group coaching program designed to help you stop running on fumes so you can make your contribution without it costing you everything. Instead of adding to your plate, we strip away the noise — and give you the tools, the accountability, and the community to actually move forward.

Because here's the truth no one in hustle culture wants you to know: a grounded, peaceful, fully alive human being is the most transformational, revolutionary act available to you. You cannot pour from an empty cup. You cannot heal a broken world with a broken nervous system.

Reclaiming your peace isn't an escape from the work. It is the work.

What you'll reclaim:

  1. Peace as Power: Learn to confidently say no to the noise, so you have the real capacity to say yes to what actually matters. Your calm is not weakness. It's your sharpest tool.
  2. Presence over Panic: Cut through the static of a burning world and lock onto your next right step — without overthinking, without spinning your wheels.
  3. Pain, Alchemized: Turn the exhaustion, the shame, and the disillusionment into fuel — not by bypassing it, but by moving through it with intention.
  4. Purpose, Clarified: Reconnect with why you're here and what only you can offer — and build a life and career that actually lives that out.
  5. Practice over Performance: Build the daily rhythms that sustain your contribution for the long haul — because this isn't a sprint, and you're not quitting.

Interested? Let's chat to see if this is a program for you.

Love,
Peter
